Another Mock Interview

I had another mock interview today. I honestly was a little nervous about it and I was not quite sure why. I interviewed with Peggy. She was extremely kind and immediately I became less nervous.

I did the mock interview on a job that I actually applied for and have been in communication with people that work with the company. This will help greatly assuming I get an interview with them and there is a good chance I will. I wanted to talk about useful interview prep steps that you can take to make any interview easier to manage and maybe even a little stressful.

For starters this seems obvious but definitely get plenty of sleep the night before. No staying up late the night before. Next is to make sure that you read the job description multiple times. You do not need to memorize it but definitely need familiarity with it. It is extremely important to prepare questions to ask the person or people interviewing you as well. Remember, you are also interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you. Also prepare closing questions. This one might be a bit tougher at first but remember anytime you answer one of their questions respond with full STAR( situation, task, action and result). Do not leave anything open ended for them.

Very important steps are to know your audience. Research the company. What is their mission statement? What products do they have and what do they do? Also look into who is interviewing you if you have the name of the person doing the interviewing. They most likely have a LinkedIn and reading about them beforehand can give you tips on who they are. You can also reach out to someone with in the company that has a similar role. They can give you a lot of incite on what they company day to day looks like and maybe even give you hints on the interviewing process.
